The Abilene Behavioral Health Adult Program provides a number of services aimed at stabilization and working with seniors and their families to find the best resources available for continued intervention as needed.
Our inpatient program is intended for short term evaluation and crisis stabilization for individuals who may be displaying altered mental status, behavior problems or personality changes. We conduct a complete evaluation including assessment of all medications the individual may be taking to ensure they are the proper treatment and dosage for the condition for which they’re prescribed. We meet with family members to help them understand and cope with their loved one’s condition and to work with them to decide upon the best next step whether it is reintegration into the home or an alternative placement.
Abilene also has two high intensity outpatient units for individuals who need less structure. These programs are both also predominantly crisis and stabilization focused, though therapy is also provided during the course of the evaluation and discharge planning process.
Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) provides a complete evaluation of crisis related mental status, behavioral or personality changes who can be maintained in an outpatient setting. Our Intensive Outpatient Program is similar to our PHP but offers stabilization services for older individuals who have less severe symptoms. Both programs provide the opportunity for participants to attend psycho-educational group therapy focusing on various topics of relevance. As with all our programs family members are included and their issues taken into account as well. We are committed to collaborating with family members and significant others in the individual’s life when determining what additional services might be needed.
At Abilene Behavioral Health, we are dedicated to meeting the needs of the entire community across the developmental spectrum. This includes older adults who have specific needs that are different from individuals in different age groups. We design our programming to be appropriate to the developmental stage of life, specific difficulties and level of treatment required.
