Adults > Intensive Outpatient Program

Abilene Behavioral Health's Intensive Outpatient Program is designed to assist individuals who require stabilization without the intensity of inpatient hospitalization. This service is offered for adult patients, ages 18 and above, with a psychiatric, chemical dependency, or dual diagnosis. Patients attend programming from 9:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Mon-Fri. Groups are led by licensed, masters-level therapists. The program is designed as either a transition up from weekly outpatient therapy appointments or a transition down from a higher level of care. The purpose of the program is to assist individuals in developing coping skills in order to handle daily stressors in a healthy way. Group topics vary, but are typically centered around coping with symptoms related to substance abuse, depression, mood instability, and anxiety. There is no physician or RN involvement, but patients will be set up with outpatient appointments at our clinic, or another provider.
