Adults > Partial Hospitalization Program

Abilene Behavioral Health's Partial Hospitalization Program is designed to provide stabilization of psychiatric and/or chemical dependency diagnoses in a less restrictive environment than would be offered in an inpatient hospital setting. This service is offered for adult patients and provides intensive therapy along with education for the patient and his/her family about the patient's diagnosis, treatment process, individual needs, and discharge and relapse prevention plans. Partial patients attend programming Monday through Saturday from 9:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.; and from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.

There are four group sessions held each day. Two of these sessions are group therapy sessions, which are led by licensed, masters-level therapists, and the other sessions are educational in nature and are taught by professional therapists or other qualified staff. The program is designed to assist individuals in developing coping skills in order to handle daily stressors in a healthy way. Group topics vary and may include anger and stress management, conflict resolution, communication skills, codependency and boundaries, relaxation techniques, and 12-Step recovery and addiction education. The patient will have a weekly visit with their physician as well as the RN.
