Job Description
Full-time Registered Nurse position will provide direct supervision to patients, ages 5 and up, in a supportive hospital environment at Abilene Behavioral Health during 2nd and 3rd hours. This is to include but not limited to:
• Providing direct patient care which includes prompt assessment, development of plan of care, utilizing appropriate resources and specialties as required.
• Adjusting nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care by evaluation of patient responses based on a patient outcome framework.
• Documenting observations, interventions, patient responses and outcomes appropriately
• Demonstrating the ability to act independently and make appropriate decisions utilizing critical thinking skills based on scientific, legal and clinical knowledge, to ensure safe and appropriate patient care
• Administration of medications, treatments, procedures and documentation according to department/unit requirements.
Required Skills
Experience providing services to an adult and/or child population with chronic mental illness
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Basic computer proficiency

Required Experience
Minimum one (1) year med/surg nursing
Minimum one (1) year psychiatric/chemical dependency nursing preferred

Responsible for coordination of psychiatric nursing care and nursing care for any comorbidities of patients ages 5 years through geriatrics and provision of leadership for ancillary nursing personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. Demonstrates positive interpersonal/customer relationships with multidisciplinary team members, administration, referral sources, families and professional community.
